Guidance for Taxis Crossing the NSW-QLD Border
21 September 2022
The following information represents TCQ’s best efforts to date to understand the Border Restriction rules application for taxis and has been prepared after consultation with Queensland Police plus review of published materials on Queensland Government websites.
Providing taxi transport across Queensland’s residential borders is no longer subject to any public heath direction from the Chief Medical Officer, as the Revocation of Border restrictions Direction No 60 came into effect on 15 January 2022.
There are currently no restrictions on QLD taxi drivers and their passengers crossing the NSW-QLD border.
It is still important for taxi drivers to continue to follow COVID-safe practices to keep themselves and passengers safe:
- Make sure your vehicle is cleaned regularly and effectively.
As personalised transport is an essential service, there is no requirement for passengers or drivers to be vaccinated. However, it is encouraged for all taxi drivers to be vaccinated to give themselves, their families, and the community the best chance of keeping safe.
