Wash confirms that a driver cannot refuse a fare if he does not like the destination, but they can if they feel under threat or the patrons are intoxicated. He says a driver can ask for a fare upfront but must turn the meter on and settle the difference. Wash says he is with the Valley Safety Committee through the Valley Chamber of Commerce. He encourages people to look at the NightLink service in Fortitude Valley, and talks about the difficulties of regulating the industry. He recommends people report drivers who are not running their meters, whether Yellow or Black and White cabs.
