COVID-19 Vaccination Information
All people aged 12 and over in Australia are eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine. We are very pleased to see that many taxi drivers are already vaccinated.
We encourage all taxi drivers to get vaccinated, and to consult their GP to discuss which vaccine is the best for them. Getting the vaccine will protect you from getting very sick from COVID-19 and will reduce the risk of passing the virus on to someone else.
Getting vaccinated is voluntary and has not been mandated for Queensland taxi drivers – drivers are not included within the on-airport worker mandate and so can continue to pick-up and drop-off passengers. It is also not mandatory for taxi passengers to be fully vaccinated. However, passengers must still use check-in QR codes but are not required to show certificates.
You can watch a quick video here for more information about why the vaccine is important.
Vaccines are available at many locations across Queensland, with hours and access options to suit you. For information on how to register and book a vaccination appointment, you can visit the Queensland Government website. Walk-ins are also available at many Queensland Health vaccination hubs. However, you may still need an appointment if you get your vaccine at a GP or pharmacy.
You can get a vaccine even if you don’t have a Medicare card.
Ask for an interpreter if you need language support by calling the Translating and Interpreting Service on 13 14 50. It is a free service. Further information on the vaccine program is available in multiple languages here.
Thank you for rolling up your sleeve and doing your part to keep Queenslanders COVID-safe.
