Cleveland-Redland Bay Road upgrade (Anita Street to Magnolia Parade duplication) – Benfer Road to Anita Street traffic switch

The Department of Transport and Main Roads advises that construction activities to complete essential upgrades on the Benfer Road and Clay Gully intersection at Victoria Point will take place from 10pm Thursday 17 October – 5am Monday 21 October 2024. North and southbound traffic can expect some delays during these important works.

These upgrade works will reduce congestion, improve traffic flow and increase safety for all road users.

Work activities:

  • Profiling of existing road surface
  • Construction of new road pavement
  • Traffic signal works
  • Asphalting and construction of traffic islands and kerbs
  • Linemarking

Timing:

  • From 10pm Thursday, 17 October to 5am Monday, 21 October 2024, weather and construction conditions permitting. Construction activities will be undertaken to allow construction team to complete works within a condensed timeframe and minimise impacts to residents, businesses and motorists.

What to expect:

  • Changes traffic conditions: northbound and southbound traffic along Cleveland Redland Bay Road from Benfer Road to Anita Street can expect some delays, with lane closures in place, see map overleaf. Queensland Police Service and traffic controllers will direct traffic and pedestrians. Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage, Queensland Police Service and traffic controllers.
  • Property access: Access to private properties and businesses will be maintained.
  • Pedestrian and bike rider access: Pedestrian and bike rider access will be maintained.
  • Bus stop access: Access to northbound bus stop 311167 (near Creekwood Street) will be closed from 10pm Thursday 17 October to 5am Monday 21 October 2024. Bus stop 311163 is the next closest bus stop, located 300 meters to the north, towards Victoria Point Shopping Centre. A new footpath will be open on the western side of Cleveland-Redland Bay Road to provide safe pedestrian access to bus stop 311163.
  • Construction noise: Heavy vehicles and machinery will be in use. Nearby residents and businesses can expect increased noise, dust and movement of trucks and workers in the area. To ensure safety, reversing beepers and flashing lights will be used on vehicles and machinery, and mobile lighting will be used to light the works zones at night.

Every effort will be made to minimise impacts on the local community and surrounds. The Department of Transport and Main Roads apologises for any disturbance these works may cause and thanks residents and businesses for their patience and cooperation while these important works are undertaken.

Cleveland-Redland Bay Road upgrade (Anita Street to Magnolia Parade duplication) – Clay Gully Road intersection temporary partial closure

Please be advised due to inclement weather conditions, the works in the below notification (Clay Gully Road partial intersection closure) have been rescheduled to this weekend and will take place from 7pm Friday 17 May to 5am Monday 20 May 2024.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) advises that upgrade works will take place at the intersection of Cleveland-Redland Bay Road and Clay Gully Road in Victoria Point. Eastbound and westbound traffic movement between Benfer Road and Clay Gully Road will be closed from 7pm Friday 10 May to 5am Monday 13 May 2024, with detours in place.

These upgrade works will reduce congestion, improve traffic flow and increase safety for all road users.

Work activities:

  • Removal of existing road surface at the middle of the intersection
  • Construction of new road pavement
  • Placement of asphalting
  • Construction of traffic islands
  • Line marking

Timing:

  • The partial (east-west) intersection closure will be in place from 7pm Friday 10 May to 5am Monday 13 May 2024.
  • Construction work will be carried out from 7pm Friday to 5am Monday to allow crews to complete works within a condensed timeframe and minimise impacts to residents, businesses and motorists.
  • In the event of inclement weather or unfavourable construction conditions, these works will be rescheduled for the following weekend.

What to expect:

  • Changes traffic conditions: Eastbound and westbound traffic movement between Clay Gully and Benfer roads will be restricted during the closure, with traffic movement between Clay Gully Road and Cleveland-Redland Bay Road limited to left-in and left-out access. Detours will be in place, see attached map. Queensland Police Service and traffic controllers will direct traffic at the intersection. Intermittent stop and hold traffic control will be in place near the intersection to allow movements of construction vehicles and heavy machinery. Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage, Queensland Police Service and traffic controllers.
  • Property access: Access to private properties and businesses including Adventist Retirement Village and Shell Coles Express service station will be maintained.
  • Pedestrian and bike rider access: Pedestrian and bike rider access will be maintained, with diversions in place. As the traffic signals at the Clay Gully Road intersection will not be operational during the works, pedestrians will need to use the temporary pedestrian crossing north of Clay Gully Road (near Creekwood Street intersection).
  • Bus stop access: Bus stop 311167 (near Adventist Retirement Village) will close temporarily during the works. Passengers can use bus stop 311163 (near Creekwood Street) to access northbound bus services. All other bus stops will remain open. Please visit Translink.com.au for further information.

Cleveland-Redland Bay Road upgrade (Anita Street to Magnolia Parade)

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) advises that works night works will occur from Sunday, 21 April 2024 for up to three nights, from 7pm to 5am, along Cleveland-Redland Bay Road, between Clay Gully Road and Magnolia Parade.

  • Clay Gully Road intersection – realignment of traffic on Clay Gully Road. Stop and hold traffic control will be in place on Clay Gully Road to enable installation of barriers, relocation of traffic signals and line marking.
  • Anita Street to Clay Gully Creek – placement of concrete barriers on the eastern side of Cleveland-Redland Bay.
  • Cleveland-Redland Bay Road – relocation of bus shelter near Marebello-Aged Care Community. Stop and hold traffic control will be in place on Cleveland -Redland Bay Road.

Local residents and businesses adjacent to the works may experience noise from construction activities and the use of heavy construction machinery. To ensure safety, site lighting will be used to light the works zones and flashing lights and audible reversing alarms will be used on vehicles and machinery. Pedestrian access around the works zones will be maintained.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) advises that night works will occur from Sunday 18 to Wednesday 21 February between 7pm and 5am, weather and construction conditions permitting.

Works include finishing of new road pavements to enable realignment of both north and southbound traffic onto the new eastern road pavement from 5am on Tuesday 20 February 2024. The new traffic alignment will enable upgrade works on the western side to commence. The existing traffic arrangement south of Benfer Road intersection will remain.

Property driveways and Creekwood Street intersection on Cleveland-Redland Bay Road (western side) will be temporarily extended, to tie into the new traffic alignment. Property, road, and pedestrian access will be maintained.

Works will be completed in stages, with changed traffic conditions including intermittent lane closures in place during most night works. Motorists should slow down and drive with caution. Traffic control and signage will be in place, please follow directions.

Local residents and businesses can expect some noise and lighting from these works, including from the use of onsite equipment and machinery. Every effort will be made to carry out these works in the early part of the night, where possible.
