Cycleway Upgrade – Old Cleveland Road, Belmont & Carindale

Cycleway Upgrade – Old Cleveland Road (service road), Belmont and Carindale

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will construct a new cycle lane on Old Cleveland Road (service road) in Belmont/Carindale.

These works will improve active transport facilities running east-west on Old Cleveland Road. Works will be conducted at night.

Works will include

  • Kerb widening beneath the Gateway Motorway overpass.
  • Line marking.
  • Earthworks.
  • Traffic signal upgrades.

Timing

  • Works will commence in late March 2025 and be completed by early September 2025, construction and weather conditions permitting.
  • Typical construction hours will be 7pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday.
  • Night works are required for road user safety, and to avoid what would otherwise be extensive traffic queuing and disruption to the road network.
  • While majority of the works will be undertaken at night, some Saturday or other out-of-hours works may be required.

What to expect

Motorists

  • Traffic changes will be in effect, including road shoulder closures, temporary lane closures with traffic control, temporary speed reductions and short-term traffic disruptions.
  • Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.

Residents and businesses

  • Nearby residents and businesses can expect to experience short-term impacts including increased noise, dust, and odour during the works.
  • Reversing beepers and flashing lights are a safety requirement and will be used at all times during working hours.

Pedestrians and bike riders

  • Temporary diversions to the bike path may be in place during works. Please follow traffic control in place.

This project is jointly funded by the Australian Government and the Queensland Government.

On completion, TMR officers will continue to review the site for up to three months. During this time TMR will assess the work undertaken for longevity and quality. In some cases, TMR may need to do further work at the location to rectify any defects.

Every effort will be made to minimise impacts on the local community and surrounds.

TMR appreciates your patience and cooperation while these important works are carried out.
