
Lane Closure – Chermside Bus Layover
Chermside Bus Layover, Gympie Road and Murphy Road intersection – temporary single lane closures
The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) will be implementing temporary single lane closures on Gympie Road northbound as part of Public Utility Plant (PUP) works for the Chermside Bus Layover project between late March and early April 2025.
The works will occur during morning hours, with the single lane closure in place near the intersection with Murphy Road.
Work activities
- Road excavation.
- PUP location, protection, and relocations.
- Installation of drainage structures.
- Minor road pavement works.
Timing
- The works will commence late March 2025 and be completed in early April 2025, construction and weather conditions permitting.
- The single lane closure will be in effect from 4am to 1pm, Monday to Friday.

Motorists
- Traffic changes will be in effect, including temporary speed reductions and a single lane closure on Gympie Road northbound.
- Further temporary single lane closures will be implemented intermittently as required until mid-2025, construction and weather conditions permitting.
- Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.
Residents and businesses
- Nearby residents and businesses can expect to experience short-term impacts including increased noise, dust, and vibration during the works.
- Access to private properties will be maintained during the works.
- Reversing beepers and flashing lights are a safety requirement and will be used at all times during working hours.
Pedestrians and bike riders
- Temporary diversions to the shared path may be in place during works. Please follow traffic control in place.
