Pavement Repair and Resurfacing Works – Ipswich Motorway, Redbank to Dinmore

The Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) advises that pavement resurfacing works will be undertaken outbound on the Ipswich Motorway between Collingwood Drive, Redbank and Aberdare Street, Dinmore.

These works are an extension of the works currently in progress on the Ipswich Motorway between Church Street, Goodna and Collingwood Drive, Redbank.

Works are being undertaken as part of TMR’s maintenance program to improve the road surface for road users.

While works are underway, detours will be required, please see details below.

Work activities

• Removal and replacement of asphalt.
• Reinstatement of temporary line marking.
• Final line marking.

Timing

• Works will commence early March 2025 and are expected to take five weeks to complete, weather and construction conditions permitting.
• Typical construction hours will be from 9pm to 5am, Sunday to Friday.
• Night works are required for road user safety, and to avoid what would otherwise be extensive traffic queuing and disruption to the road network.
• While most of the works will be undertaken at night, some Saturday or other out of hours works during the day may be required.
• While works are underway, detours will be in place between 10pm and 5am as follows:
  • Westbound access to the Ipswich Motorway:
    • Traffic on Mine Street: Turn left onto Francis Street and take the Ipswich Motorway eastbound entry ramp. Exit at Church Street, turn right onto Brisbane Road and merge onto the Ipswich Motorway westbound.
    • Traffic on Collingwood Drive: Head north towards Mine Street, turn right onto Francis Street and follow the above directions.
    • Traffic on the Ipswich Motorway exit ramp: Turn right towards Mine Street and follow the above directions.
  • Access to Redbank Plaza Shopping Centre:
    • Westbound traffic on the Ipswich Motorway exit ramp: Turn left onto Collingwood Drive, continue straight and turn right into the plaza.
    • Eastbound traffic on the Ipswich Motorway: Take the Mine Street exit, turn right onto Collingwood Drive, continue straight and turn right into the plaza.
• Final line marking works to improve the reflectivity and longevity of the road line marking will be applied approximately six weeks after the completion of road resurfacing to allow for adequate curing.

Expected impacts

• Changed traffic conditions: Temporary traffic changes will be in effect including traffic detours, road shoulder closures, lane closures with traffic control, changes to traffic flow, speed reductions and short-term traffic disruptions. Please allow extra time when planning your travel and follow the directions of roadside signage and traffic controllers.
• Temporary construction noise: Heavy machinery will be in use and nearby residents and businesses can expect some increased noise, dust and odour. Reversing beepers and flashing lights will be used for safety.

On completion, TMR officers will continue to review the site for up to three months. During this time TMR will assess the work undertaken for longevity and quality. In some cases, TMR may need to do further work at the location to rectify any defects.
